KUALA LUMPUR — Solidariti Malaysia: Keluarga Dalam Harapan (MASFIH), a support group dedicated to assisting families of tragedy victims, has appealed for Tamil-speaking counsellors to help bereaved families connected to a Nepal incident.
The organisation, which focuses on providing emotional and psychological support to affected families, identified a critical gap in services for Tamil-speaking communities who require counselling in their native language.
MAsFIH's initiative reflects the broader Malaysian diaspora's connection to the Nepal tragedy, which has impacted families across the region. By recruiting Tamil counsellors, the group aims to ensure that language barriers do not prevent grieving families from accessing essential mental health services.
The support group's efforts underscore the importance of culturally sensitive mental health intervention during times of crisis. MASFIH continues to coordinate with relevant authorities and community organisations to identify and train qualified counsellors capable of providing compassionate, accessible support to affected families during their recovery process.
