Malaysia emerged as Indonesia's largest source of international visitors in July, with nearly 229,000 arrivals significantly outpacing other major source markets. The figure underscores the strength of cross-border tourism ties between the two Southeast Asian neighbours.

Approximately 228,710 Malaysian tourists visited Indonesia during July, according to official visitor data, establishing the country as the top source of international arrivals for the month.
Australian visitors ranked second with 188,250 arrivals, while Chinese tourists accounted for 156,750 visits during the same period. The gap between Malaysia and the second-place Australian market exceeded 40,000 visitors.
The figures reflect the geographical proximity and strong cultural ties between Malaysia and Indonesia, which facilitate regular travel flows across the Strait of Malacca and shared maritime borders. Both countries share Malay-Muslim heritage and maintain extensive transport connections through air, sea, and land routes.
