Malaysian trekkers safe at Annapurna Base Camp amid Nepal flooding
A group of Malaysian hikers trekking in Nepal's Annapurna region have been confirmed safe despite severe flooding affecting areas across Nepal and Tibet. The trekkers at Annapurna Base Camp remain unaffected by the natural disaster.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Malaysian authorities have confirmed that a party of local hikers stationed at Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal are safe and well following devastating floods that have impacted the broader Nepal-Tibet region.
The Malaysian trekking group, which is based at the high-altitude camp in the Annapurna massif, has not been affected by the flooding that has affected lower-lying areas and communities across Nepal and the Tibet autonomous region in recent days.
Annapurna Base Camp, located at approximately 4,130 metres above sea level in the Annapurna Conservation Area, sits at an elevation where the flooding impacts reported in surrounding regions have not reached the trekking settlement.
The confirmation provides relief to families and authorities in Malaysia who had been monitoring the situation as severe weather conditions unleashed floods and landslides across Nepal and neighbouring regions. Officials said they remain in contact with the Malaysian group and are monitoring conditions in trekking areas across Nepal as weather patterns stabilise.
