CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Mamburao's local government has ordered the distribution of face masks to educational institutions as a precautionary health measure against haze blanketing portions of Occidental Mindoro.

Mayor Glicerio Almero III directed government personnel to undertake the distribution of protective masks to schools in the municipality. The supplies will be handed over to educational facilities to help shield students and staff from poor air quality caused by the atmospheric haze.

The move reflects growing concern over air quality in the region, with officials taking steps to minimize potential health risks to the school-age population. The distribution effort aims to ensure that learning activities can proceed while safeguarding the respiratory health of students and educators.

Air quality monitoring in the area continues as authorities work to track the extent and duration of the haze conditions affecting Occidental Mindoro and neighboring localities.
