CALAPAN CITY — All educational institutions in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, have halted classes at all levels following a magnitude 5 earthquake that struck the municipality on Wednesday, according to an announcement from the local government.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) recommended the class suspension as a precautionary measure. Mamburao Mayor Glicerio S. Almero cited the risk of aftershocks as a primary concern driving the decision to close schools.
The suspension affects all public and private educational institutions operating in the municipality. Local disaster management officials are continuing to monitor seismic activity in the region to determine when normal operations can safely resume.
