Man Accused of Severing Wife's Nose Over Refusal to Return In-Laws

A man in Mancherial, Telangana, has been accused of severely mutilating his wife by severing her nose after she refused to return to her in-laws' residence, police said on Wednesday.

The assault occurred during an altercation in which the accused allegedly attacked the woman's father with a wooden stick on the head. When the wife attempted to intervene and protect her father, the man allegedly turned violent toward her, inflicting the severe injury.

The critically injured woman was subsequently transferred to MGM Hospital in Warangal for emergency medical treatment. The extent of injuries sustained by her father in the initial assault has not been detailed.

Local authorities have registered a case against the accused husband. The incident has drawn attention to the ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence and marital disputes in the region, with police investigating the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
