Man arrested after allegedly setting wife ablaze in Uttar Pradesh

A 25-year-old woman died following a brutal attack by her husband in the Chhirbramau area of Kannauj district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police said. The victim, whose name has not been disclosed, was allegedly bound to a chair by her husband Sukhveer Singh before he doused her with petrol and set her ablaze, according to initial police reports. The incident occurred in the morning at their residence. Fire department personnel and police teams arrived at the scene following reports of the attack. Medical teams declared the woman dead on arrival at the hospital. According to investigators, the husband had left for work after their love marriage but returned to harbor suspicions about his wife's character. Senior police officials said the arrest of Sukhveer Singh has been confirmed. Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar stated that the case has been registered and further investigation is underway. The incident marks the latest in a series of domestic violence cases reported across the state.
