Authorities in Varanasi's Ramghat area have arrested a man identified as Pradeep after CCTV footage of an alleged animal cruelty incident went viral on social media. The video, recorded on the night of September 17, showed the suspect engaging in abusive behavior toward a bovine animal. The emergence of the footage enabled police to identify the accused through visual evidence captured by surveillance cameras in the locality. Police registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act as well as relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), India's newly adopted criminal code. The incident has drawn attention to animal welfare enforcement in the region, with authorities continuing their investigation into the matter.
