Authorities in Lucknow arrested a youth identified as Shahnawaz on charges of deliberately striking and dragging his ex-partner with his automobile in the Gomti Nagar extension area. The incident took place near Janeshwar Mishra Park, where the accused allegedly rammed his car into the woman before dragging her for several hundred metres.
Investigators said the accused had been using a false identity, "Yash Thakur," to conceal his actual name. The deception came to light when a dispute erupted between the two individuals, leading to the revelation of his true identity.
The accused was taken into custody following a complaint filed regarding the incident. Police have registered a case and begun formal investigation proceedings. The victim sustained injuries in the incident, and further details regarding her condition were not immediately available.
The arrest comes as authorities in Uttar Pradesh continue to intensify crackdowns on cases involving domestic violence and assault, particularly those involving intimate partner violence.
