Man arrested after killing wife over religious practices in Madhya Pradesh

A 36-year-old woman has been killed in what authorities describe as a religiously motivated domestic violence incident in Guradkheda village, Rajgarh district. The victim, identified as Gayatribai, was attacked with an axe allegedly by her husband Rambaboo Gurjar during an escalation of their ongoing marital dispute.

According to police reports, the couple had been engaged in frequent arguments regarding Gayatribai's religious practices and participation in festive celebrations. Sources indicate the husband had grown increasingly antagonistic toward his wife's adherence to these traditions over an extended period.

The attack resulted in fatal injuries, and Gayatribai was pronounced dead at the scene. Rambaboo Gurjar has been taken into custody pending investigation. Local law enforcement is examining the circumstances surrounding the violence and gathering statements from family members and neighbours.

The incident highlights the troubling intersection of domestic conflict and religious intolerance in rural areas of the state. Authorities have registered a case and initiated a formal investigation into the homicide.
