TACLOBAN CITY — A businessman was arrested Friday night after airport security screened his luggage and discovered ammunition at Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, the Police Regional Office 8 reported Saturday.
Security personnel found a magazine and 30 rounds of .45-caliber live ammunition hidden inside the suspect's backpack during routine passenger screening. The discovery was made during evening operations at the airport.
The 59-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay in Tacloban City, was taken into custody pending investigation. The ammunition and magazine were seized as evidence.
Airport authorities referred the case to police investigators, who will determine what charges will be filed. The incident underscores ongoing security measures implemented at Philippine airports to prevent prohibited items from being transported on flights.
