Man arrested for posting AI video threatening India-Nepal border SSB camp

A 22-year-old man identified as Faizan Ahmad has been arrested by police in Maharajganj district following the posting of a synthetic video threatening a security installation. The nine-second AI-generated video, uploaded to Instagram, depicted an explosive attack on an SSB camp situated along the India-Nepal frontier.

The video included a caption urging viewers to "copy now," according to police records. The provocative content drew the attention of law enforcement agencies, which launched an investigation into the matter.

During interrogation, the accused stated he created and shared the video to increase likes, comments, and followers on his social media account. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the post and whether any accomplices were involved in the matter.

The arrest comes amid heightened concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence technology to create threatening content and spread misinformation on social media platforms. Security forces maintain constant vigilance at border installations to prevent any security breaches or threats to personnel stationed in sensitive areas.
