Man arrested for setting mother ablaze in Bihar; claims divine status

A man has been arrested in Patna's Khajekalan police station area on charges of murdering his mother by setting her on fire, authorities said. The victim, Manju Devi, 60, died in the incident that occurred while the accused son was reportedly in an intoxicated state.

Police responding to the scene encountered resistance from the suspect, who allegedly attacked officers during the arrest operation. Following his apprehension, the accused made increasingly incoherent claims about his identity and involvement in his mother's death.

During questioning after his arrest, the suspect made statements claiming to be God and continued to reference the killing of his mother, according to police records.
