Man arrested over alleged unauthorised spiritual healing practices in Malaysia

The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has arrested a man identified as Aliff Daniel following investigations into allegations that he engaged in spiritual healing practices outside Islamic teachings. The arrest came after videos purporting to show his activities circulated on social media platforms, drawing public attention and prompting intervention by religious authorities.

According to investigators, Daniel allegedly positioned himself as a spiritual healer and conducted rituals inconsistent with Islamic doctrine. The case has expanded to include the detention of his mother, who is believed to have been involved in the activities.

The arrests reflect ongoing efforts by Malaysian religious authorities to monitor and prevent practices deemed inconsistent with Islamic principles. Jais regularly investigates reports of unauthorised religious activities and those claiming spiritual or healing powers outside recognised Islamic frameworks.

The matter remains under investigation, with authorities working to establish the full extent of the alleged activities and determine appropriate legal proceedings. Officials have encouraged the public to report suspicious spiritual or healing claims to relevant authorities.
