Man arrested over RM1.42m vehicle and property fraud in Selangor

Shah Alam police arrested the suspect following a series of complaints from victims who reported losing substantial sums in what appeared to be legitimate property and vehicle transactions. Investigators allege the man posed as an aide to the Selangor royal household to establish credibility with potential buyers and sellers.

The fraud scheme reportedly involved advertising high-value vehicles and properties at attractive prices before collecting down payments and deposits from interested parties. Victims discovered the deception only after attempting to complete transactions or take possession of the purported assets.

Police have preliminarily linked the suspect to losses totalling approximately RM1.42 million across multiple cases. Investigators are examining transaction records and communications to determine the full scope of the fraudulent activities and identify additional victims.

The arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts by state police to combat property and vehicle scams. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution when conducting high-value transactions and to verify the credentials of parties involved before transferring funds or signing agreements.
