Man Lost as Child Reunites with Family After 31 Years

A man known as Abdul Jabbar has traced his roots to Katihar, Bihar, where he was born as Pintu Yadav before disappearing three decades ago. The now 40-year-old fell asleep aboard a train at the age of nine, waking to find himself in West Bengal with no means to return home.

After disembarking in the neighboring state, Jabbar was taken in by a Muslim family who raised him as their own. He adopted the name Abdul Jabbar and integrated fully into his adoptive community, eventually marrying and starting a family of his own with three children.

Despite the passage of three decades and the establishment of a new life, Jabbar maintained a connection to his origins. His search for his biological family accelerated when he turned to social media, where he posted details about his childhood and his separation from his birth family in Katihar.

The online appeal bore fruit when members of his biological family encountered the post and confirmed his identity through childhood details and family records. Jabbar has now returned to Bihar to reunite with his parents and siblings, bringing closure to a three-decade family separation and introducing his adoptive family's legacy to his biological relatives.
