A property dispute escalated into a fatal attack in Pune's Sangvi area on Thursday morning, with a man confessing to the murder of his step-grandmother, Mangala Shingore. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., according to police records. Onkar Shingore allegedly stabbed Mangala Shingore following years of tension between the two over ownership rights to a portion of a three-storey residential building.
The family conflict had simmered over an extended period, centered on disputes regarding inheritance and property division within the shared residential structure. The disagreement ultimately turned violent when the younger family member allegedly used a knife during the confrontation, resulting in fatal injuries.
In a significant development, Shingore appeared at the local police station shortly after the killing and voluntarily confessed to committing the crime. His immediate surrender to authorities facilitated the swift registration of the case and preliminary investigation. The timing of the confession has raised questions, as Shingore was reportedly already out on bail in connection with another murder case at the time of this incident.
Pune police have registered a murder case and commenced formal investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing. The incident underscores the dangers posed by festering family disputes over property, particularly when individuals involved have histories of violence.
