Man posing as IAS officer arrested in Indore over hotel bill dispute
Police in Indore have arrested a 28-year-old man who was impersonating an IAS officer and district collector. The arrest came after the suspect attempted to evade a hotel bill by claiming official status.

A 28-year-old resident of Indore has been arrested for impersonating a senior bureaucrat, police said on Monday. The suspect, apprehended by Lasudiya police, had been presenting himself as an IAS officer and district collector to intimidate others and gain undue influence in public dealings.
The impersonation came to light when the man attempted to avoid paying his hotel bill by invoking his purported official position. Staff at the establishment grew suspicious of his claims and alerted police. Upon investigation, officers found inconsistencies in his story that led to his arrest.
A search of the suspect's residence yielded several incriminating items, including a fake IAS nameplate, materials related to a collector's office, and forged identity documents linked to a motor vehicle. Authorities have registered a case and are investigating further to determine the extent of the fraud and whether the suspect had duped others using similar tactics.
