Man sentenced to life imprisonment for major cannabis trafficking operation
A Kuala Lumpur High Court has imposed a life sentence on a man convicted of trafficking over 226 kilogrammes of cannabis, while his wife was acquitted in the case. The court also ordered 24 strokes of the cane as additional punishment.

Faliq Amar Abdul Rahim received the lengthy custodial sentence following his conviction in connection with the large-scale drug trafficking operation. The High Court found sufficient evidence of his involvement in the distribution of the controlled substance, which exceeded 226 kilogrammes in weight.
In addition to the life imprisonment term, the judge imposed corporal punishment, ordering that Faliq Amar Abdul Rahim receive 24 strokes of the cane. The sentence reflects the severity with which Malaysian courts treat major drug trafficking offences under the country's stringent narcotics laws.
Faliq Amar Abdul Rahim's wife was discharged and acquitted by the court, indicating that prosecutors failed to establish her culpability in the trafficking operation beyond reasonable doubt.
