MANILA—The City of Manila recorded a significant uptick in flu-like illnesses on Monday, with the Manila Health Department reporting 32 new cases of influenza-like illness (ILI), the highest among diseases monitored under the city's W.I.L.D. surveillance program covering water-borne diseases, influenza, leptospirosis, and dengue.
The latest count underscores growing health concerns in the capital as the city continues tracking multiple infectious diseases simultaneously. In the same reporting period, health authorities also documented 22 new dengue cases and 15 new leptospirosis cases, indicating sustained transmission of multiple illnesses across the metropolitan area.
Municipal health officials have intensified calls for residents experiencing flu-like symptoms to seek immediate medical attention rather than self-treating at home. Early consultation with healthcare providers can aid in rapid diagnosis and appropriate intervention, officials stressed, particularly given the simultaneous circulation of multiple pathogens.
