Manila recorded 23 additional dengue cases on Monday, pushing the cumulative total for the period from January 1 through October 12 to 3,822 cases, the Manila Health Department reported.

The latest figures come from the department's W.I.L.D. diseases surveillance system, which monitors water- and food-borne illnesses, influenza, leptospirosis, and dengue across the city. The health agency's consolidated report also documented 19 new cases of influenza-like illness during the same monitoring period.

Dengue remains a persistent public health concern in the capital, with cases regularly reported throughout the year. The disease, transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, typically peaks during the warmer, wetter months.

The Manila Health Department continues to urge residents to implement preventive measures, including the elimination of mosquito breeding sites around homes and communities. Health authorities recommend seeking medical attention promptly for fever and other dengue symptoms.
