Manila South Cemetery sees peaceful Undas observance, police report

MANILA — The Manila South Cemetery maintained general peace and order during this year's Undas celebration, according to the Manila Police District on Monday, Nov. 2. Sta. Ana Police Station commander Richard Villanueva assessed the situation as stable during All Souls' Day, the final day of the long weekend when Filipino families traditionally visit graves to honor their deceased loved ones.

The assessment came after the cemetery accommodated thousands of visitors over the four-day holiday period. Police presence was maintained throughout the observance to ensure public safety and manage crowd flow at the sprawling burial ground.

The peaceful conditions at Manila South Cemetery reflected broader efforts by law enforcement across Metro Manila to ensure orderly Undas celebrations. The extended weekend traditionally sees significant foot traffic at cemeteries citywide as families pay respects at burial sites.

The MPD did not report major security concerns or criminal incidents during the cemetery operations over the holiday period, indicating successful coordination between police and cemetery management.
