Manila Water Philippine Ventures (MWPV), the non-East Zone subsidiary of Manila Water Company, is intensifying efforts to strengthen water supply systems in North Luzon ahead of anticipated dry weather conditions. The initiative comes as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has flagged both Pangasinan and Isabela provinces as vulnerable to drought-like conditions during the El Niño period.
MWPV's operating units—Calasiao Water in Pangasinan and Metro Ilagan Water in Isabela—are spearheading the supply enhancement project through targeted investments and operational improvements. The measures are designed to ensure adequate water distribution to consumers across both provinces during the expected dry spell.
The proactive approach reflects growing concerns about water scarcity in the region during peak dry seasons. By strengthening infrastructure and supply chains now, the utility aims to minimize service disruptions and maintain consistent water availability for households and businesses dependent on their systems.
El Niño episodes typically bring below-normal rainfall to parts of the Philippines, creating water stress in vulnerable areas. The intervention by MWPV represents a coordinated response to anticipated seasonal challenges facing North Luzon's water security.
