Manipal Hospitals profit dips despite strong revenue growth in Q1

Manipal Hospitals' financial performance in Q1FY27 presented a mixed picture, with the healthcare operator's bottom-line earnings contracting slightly while its top-line momentum accelerated sharply. Revenue from operations jumped to ₹3,091 crore from the previous year, reflecting robust demand across the company's inpatient and outpatient services.

Operating profitability expanded at a robust pace, with EBITDA climbing 26.4 per cent to ₹749 crore during the quarter. The improvement in operational earnings underscores the hospital chain's ability to scale services and maintain margins despite inflationary pressures across the healthcare sector.

The modest contraction in net profit, despite double-digit growth in both revenues and EBITDA, suggests increased expenses in areas such as finance costs, tax outgo, or one-time items during the quarter. Strong growth in patient volumes—both inpatient and outpatient—across Manipal Hospitals' pan-India footprint drove the revenue expansion, indicating sustained demand recovery in the tertiary care segment.

The results demonstrate the healthcare operator's resilience and expansion trajectory as it continues to enhance capacity and service offerings across its network of facilities. Industry analysts are watching how Manipal navigates cost pressures while capitalising on sustained demand growth in coming quarters.
