Mara establishes task force for inaugural hospital project

Mara has activated a task force to oversee the establishment of its inaugural hospital, marking a significant expansion into the healthcare sector, the agency's leadership announced. The move represents a strategic evolution for the organisation, which has traditionally focused on entrepreneurship and skills development for bumiputera communities.

The chairman noted that Mara already possesses most of the foundational components required to build a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem. These include medical education programmes, advanced healthcare technologies, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) capabilities, and entrepreneurship initiatives that can be integrated into the hospital project.

The proposed hospital is expected to serve multiple functions within Mara's broader development framework, combining clinical healthcare delivery with educational opportunities and technical innovation. By consolidating these existing strengths, Mara aims to create a facility that extends beyond traditional hospital operations to support professional development and business incubation in the healthcare sector.

The task force will oversee planning, regulatory compliance, and operational framework development for the facility. Details regarding the hospital's location, capacity, and timeline for commencement have not yet been disclosed.
