Marawi readies new hospital as completion nears; budgets P200M for 2027 ops

MARAWI CITY — Local officials in Marawi have set aside P200 million to fund operations of the Marawi City General Hospital in 2027, signaling their readiness to activate the nearly finished medical facility. Vice Mayor Majul Gandamra said construction on the hospital has reached 97% completion, marking a significant step forward in the city's healthcare infrastructure development.

The hospital is designed to house between 50 and 100 beds, making it a substantial healthcare resource for Marawi and surrounding areas. The substantial budget allocation reflects the local government's commitment to ensuring adequate staffing, supplies, and maintenance once the facility opens its doors to patients.

The project represents a major investment in medical services for the war-torn city, which has been rebuilding following the 2017 siege. Healthcare access has been a critical priority as Marawi works to restore essential services and attract residents back to the community. The hospital's imminent opening comes as part of broader rehabilitation efforts across the city.
