Marcellus Investment Managers has received final regulatory approval to enter the mutual fund space, signalling its intent to offer differentiated asset allocation solutions beyond its existing PMS and AIF offerings.

Marcellus Investment Managers, the Delhi-based asset management firm established in 2018, has secured final clearance from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to launch mutual fund operations. The approval marks a significant expansion for the investment manager, which has built its reputation managing portfolios through Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).
The firm has indicated that its mutual fund offerings will focus on niche, specialist strategies rather than conventional or generic investment products. According to available statements, Marcellus plans to roll out asset allocation solutions tailored to specific investor segments and risk profiles, differentiating itself from the broad product suite typical of larger fund houses.
The move reflects a broader industry trend of specialised investment managers diversifying into mutual funds to tap the retail investor base. Marcellus' entry into the space comes as Indian mutual fund penetration continues to expand, with growing demand for active management and customised portfolio approaches.
The firm's expansion into mutual funds complements its existing capabilities in alternative investments and discretionary portfolio management. With SEBI approval now in place, Marcellus is positioned to launch its maiden mutual fund schemes in the coming months, pending final operational readiness.
