Marcos approval edges up to 36% as Duterte maintains commanding 56% lead
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s public trust rating rose modestly in September, though Vice President Sara Duterte continues to hold a significantly higher approval rating despite facing an ongoing impeachment trial.

MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s approval rating has climbed to 36 percent, according to the latest survey by Social Weather Stations commissioned by think-tank Stratbase Group and released Tuesday.
Despite the marginal improvement in the president's trust rating, Vice President Sara Duterte maintained a commanding lead with 56 percent approval, underscoring persistent public confidence in the vice president even as she navigates her impeachment proceedings.
The SWS survey provides a snapshot of public sentiment toward the country's top two elected officials at a time of significant political dynamics. Marcos's improved rating suggests a slight uptick in public confidence, though it remains substantially below that of the vice president.
Duterte's resilience in maintaining elevated approval ratings despite the impeachment trial indicates that the legal proceedings have not substantially eroded public support for the vice president, according to the survey data. The gap between the two officials' approval figures underscores the divergent levels of public confidence in the administration's leadership at present.
