MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to meet with senior officials from key government departments on Monday to review damage assessments and coordinate response efforts as significant flooding persists across Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
The presidential meeting comes as thousands of residents remain displaced by floodwaters in low-lying communities throughout the two regions. Malacañang spokesperson Claire Castro confirmed the high-level briefing and stressed the administration's commitment to delivering assistance to affected populations still waiting for relief.
The flooding has affected multiple provinces and cities, with water levels continuing to pose risks to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Government agencies are expected to report on ongoing rescue operations, evacuation efforts, and the status of relief distribution during the Monday session.
Castro indicated that the palace would provide updates on the government's recovery timeline and additional measures being implemented to address the humanitarian needs of displaced families. Officials are also expected to discuss reconstruction plans and long-term flood mitigation strategies for the affected areas.
