Marcos declares special holidays for regional festivals across Philippines

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared special non-working days in Tawi-Tawi, the municipality of Lumban in Laguna province, and 17 municipalities across Camarines Sur and Masbate to commemorate their respective anniversaries and cultural celebrations.

Under Proclamation No. 1445, September 23, 2026, was designated a special non-working day in Tawi-Tawi, enabling residents to participate fully in their scheduled festivities. The proclamation recognizes the importance of local celebrations in strengthening community bonds and cultural identity across the archipelago.

The special non-working day declarations extend to municipalities in Camarines Sur and Masbate provinces, both in the Bicol Region, as well as Lumban in the Calabarzon area. Each municipality will observe its own designated date for community festivities and commemorative activities.

Presidential proclamations granting special non-working days are customary in the Philippines, allowing regions to celebrate heritage and local history while promoting tourism and cultural awareness. The holidays enable residents and visitors to participate in festivities without workplace obligations.
