MANILA — President Marcos has designated special holidays for three municipalities during August to give residents time for important community celebrations and observances.
The proclamations cover municipalities in three provinces: Quezon in the Calabarzon region, Cagayan in the Cagayan Valley, and Sultan Kudarat in Mindanao. Each declaration targets specific dates when residents wish to commemorate local festivals or cultural events of significance to their communities.
Special non-working days allow local government units to honor occasions that hold particular importance to their constituents while maintaining regular operations in other areas. The move reflects the administration's policy of recognizing diverse local traditions and celebrations across the archipelago.
The proclamations join other special holiday declarations issued by the President this year, including the September 14 special non-working day declared for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to accommodate automated elections in the region.
