President Marcos presided over the ceremonial handover of housing units at Disiplina Village in Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City on Tuesday, marking progress on a resettlement initiative for families displaced by recurring flooding. The 333 units distributed represent the initial phase of the larger Disiplina Village Arkong Bato project, which is designed to ultimately accommodate 960 housing units for qualified beneficiaries.
The resettlement program addresses the relocation needs of informal settler families identified as vulnerable to seasonal floods. The project's implementation follows a Supreme Court mandamus requiring the government to provide alternative housing for affected residents in flood-prone communities.
Disiplina Village represents a comprehensive relocation effort aimed at reducing disaster risk while providing permanent residential solutions for low-income families. The staged rollout of housing units allows authorities to manage the integration of relocated families into the new community while ensuring access to basic services and infrastructure.
