Marcos directs urgent repairs to collapsed Tarlac bridge

TARLAC CITY – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the site of the collapsed Agana Bridge on Wednesday to oversee emergency restoration efforts and ensure swift completion of critical repairs.
The 136-meter bridge gave way over the weekend after intense rainfall and shifting in the Agana River. The infrastructure failure cut off vital road access in the area, prompting immediate government action.
Accompanied by Public Works Secretary Vivencio Dizon, the President directed the Department of Public Works and Highways to expedite construction of a temporary Bailey bridge. The replacement structure is intended to restore connectivity while permanent reconstruction plans are evaluated.
The presidential inspection underscored the administration's commitment to addressing infrastructure vulnerabilities exposed by extreme weather events. The Tarlac bridge failure is among several infrastructure challenges the country has faced in recent months due to climate-related hazards.
