President Marcos led the ceremonial inauguration of the Malampaya Phase 4 project at the Malampaya Onshore Gas Plant in Tabangao Ambulong, Batangas City, underscoring the government's commitment to bolstering the nation's energy security through domestic gas production.
The phase 4 development represents a major expansion of the Malampaya complex, which has been a cornerstone of the Philippines' natural gas supply infrastructure. The project's activation coincides with growing national demand for reliable energy sources to support economic development and industrial operations across the archipelago.
With the addition of an estimated 222 billion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, the Phase 4 project is expected to strengthen domestic gas supplies and reduce the country's reliance on imported energy sources. The expansion underscores ongoing efforts to optimize the nation's offshore oil and gas resources for long-term energy sustainability.
The Malampaya gas field remains one of the Philippines' most productive hydrocarbon assets. The new phase's contribution to domestic supply comes at a time when energy infrastructure investments are considered critical to supporting the country's infrastructure development agenda and industrial competitiveness in the region.
