Marcos inspects rebuilt Eastern Samar hospital with South Korean support

TACLOBAN CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspected the newly reconstructed Felipe Abrigo Memorial Hospital (FAMH) in Guiuan, Eastern Samar on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the recovery efforts following the devastating impact of Super Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013. The 25-bed Level 1 public hospital, located in Barangay Poblacion Ward 9-A, represents a major step forward for healthcare services in the province.
The original facility was completely destroyed when Yolanda swept through the region more than a decade ago, leaving the community without adequate medical infrastructure. The reconstruction project, made possible with support from South Korea, has restored critical healthcare capabilities to the area and demonstrates the country's commitment to rebuilding affected regions.
The facility's classification as a Level 1 public hospital underscores its importance as a primary healthcare provider in Guiuan. The president's inspection highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Philippine government and international partners in addressing recovery and development needs in provinces still rebuilding from the typhoon's aftermath.
