Marcos lauds air force airlift wing's critical disaster response role

MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday underscored the vital contribution of the Philippine Air Force's 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (PAW) in the government's emergency response capabilities, commending the unit for swift assistance to communities affected by natural disasters.

Speaking at the PAW's 58th founding anniversary ceremony, Marcos emphasized that the airlift wing's strategic importance extends well beyond its traditional role of transporting the president, his staff, and foreign dignitaries. The unit's aircraft and personnel have become essential assets in the country's disaster management framework, the president noted.

The PAW operates under the Philippine Air Force and maintains a fleet of aircraft capable of delivering aid, personnel, and equipment to affected areas during emergencies. The wing's operational readiness has made it instrumental in reaching remote communities during flooding, typhoons, and other calamities that frequently strike the Philippines.
