MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially opened a newly completed section of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Thursday, marking another milestone in the country's infrastructure development agenda.
The two-kilometer stretch, designated as NLEX C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A, connects Mindanao Avenue in Valenzuela City with Quirino Highway in Quezon City. According to officials, the new link substantially reduces travel time between these two major urban centers to approximately five minutes, compared to significantly longer routes previously available to motorists.
The inauguration represents progress on a larger infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and connectivity across Metro Manila's northern corridors. The NLEX C5 Northlink project is part of broader efforts to enhance transportation networks and reduce congestion in the metropolitan region.
The completion of this segment is expected to benefit commuters and commercial traffic operating between Valenzuela and Quezon City, two densely populated areas in the National Capital Region. The project underscores the administration's focus on infrastructure development as a key component of its economic and social agenda.
