Marcos opens rebuilt Eastern Samar hospital a decade after Yolanda

GUIUAN, Eastern Samar — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday inspected the newly rebuilt Felipe Abrigo Memorial Hospital (FAMH), a major healthcare facility restored to serve residents of this Eastern Visayas municipality. The facility had sustained severe damage during Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013, one of the deadliest storms to strike the Philippines in recent history.

The reconstructed hospital features modern medical infrastructure designed to enhance healthcare delivery across the region. The facility includes a fully equipped emergency room, multiple operating theatres, patient wards, and a dental clinic, representing a comprehensive upgrade from the facility's pre-disaster capabilities.

The hospital's completion represents a significant milestone in the government's post-disaster reconstruction efforts in Eastern Samar, where typhoon damage was widespread and recovery efforts have extended over the past decade.
