President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed the leadership transition during an interview in Singapore, indicating the formal appointment would take effect upon his return to Manila. Cayetano currently serves as general manager of PTV-4, the state-owned broadcast network.

The change marks another shift within the presidential communications structure as Marcos continues to reshape key administrative positions in his administration. Gomez, the incumbent PCO chief, will step down as Cayetano assumes the role of overseeing the government's public information and media operations.

Cayetano's appointment comes as the administration seeks to strengthen its messaging apparatus and media engagement strategies. The PCO serves as the primary office coordinating presidential communications, managing press releases, broadcast coordination, and public information dissemination across government agencies.

The formal transition is expected to be completed upon the president's arrival back in the Philippines following his Singapore engagement. No specific date for the transition has been announced.
