President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led a walkthrough of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on Friday as the country pressed ahead with arrangements for the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and Related Summits scheduled for November 16 to 18.

The Philippines is serving as host for the high-level gathering this year, with Marcos taking a direct role in ensuring the venue and facilities meet international standards for the regional summit. The PICC inspection underscored the government's commitment to delivering a successful event that will draw leaders and delegates from across Southeast Asia.

The summit represents a significant diplomatic undertaking for Manila, requiring coordination across multiple government agencies and private sector partners. The three-day gathering will bring together senior officials from the 10 Asean member states to discuss regional cooperation, economic integration, and key geopolitical matters affecting the bloc.

Preparations for the summit have been accelerating in recent weeks, with venue upgrades and security measures being finalized ahead of the November dates. The PICC, located in the capital's entertainment district, has hosted major international conferences and serves as one of the country's premier convention facilities.
