Maresca tells City to silence critics with performances on pitch

Maresca believes the most effective response to noise surrounding the club is for his players to create their own narrative through commanding performances on the field.

The Manchester City boss has consistently emphasised that the team's focus should remain on controlling what they can influence—their play and results—rather than being distracted by outside commentary.

This approach reflects a broader philosophy at elite clubs to maintain concentration on sporting objectives while blocking out peripheral distractions. By delivering strong performances, Maresca argues that City can shift the conversation and demonstrate their quality through actions rather than words.

The strategy underscores the pressure facing the club this season, with the manager attempting to keep his squad mentally resilient and unified in their pursuit of objectives. Maresca's message appears designed to foster a collective mindset where the team's collective voice on the pitch drowns out any external criticism or scrutiny.
