MANILA – The Department of Justice on Tuesday formally confirmed that five criminal cases have been filed against Marikina City 1st District Representative Marcelino 'Marcy' Teodoro stemming from allegations made by two female police officers.
According to DOJ records, the charges include four counts of sexual assault and one additional criminal complaint. The filing marks an escalation in legal proceedings against the first-term congressman, whose district covers portions of the capital region.
Tedoro has contested the charges and raised procedural objections regarding the handling of his case. The lawmaker specifically objected to what he characterized as an abrupt change in the panel composition overseeing the matter, contending that such modifications compromise the integrity of the legal process.
The cases are currently undergoing preliminary investigation before the DOJ. The development adds to ongoing scrutiny of conduct allegations against Philippine legislators and comes amid broader discussions about accountability within government institutions.
