Marine Police Log Record Arrests, Cases in Malaysian Waters

PORT KLANG — The Marine Police Force (PPM) has significantly stepped up its enforcement activities, with figures released on Tuesday showing a substantial volume of arrests and cases documented in Malaysian waters throughout the current year.

The 2,707 arrests across 7,627 recorded cases represent a comprehensive crackdown on maritime criminal activity, including smuggling, illegal fishing, and other offences occurring within the country's territorial waters and exclusive economic zone.

The enforcement push reflects the PPM's commitment to maintaining maritime security and safeguarding Malaysia's marine resources. The force operates under the Royal Malaysia Police and maintains patrol operations across critical maritime corridors and coastal regions throughout the peninsula and East Malaysia.

Maritime law enforcement in Malaysia remains a critical priority given the nation's extensive coastline and strategic location along major shipping lanes. The accumulated cases documented by the Marine Police Force underscore ongoing challenges in combating transnational maritime crime and protecting national waters.
