Maruti Suzuki hits record October sales on robust festival demand
India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer reported its strongest-ever monthly performance in October, with total dispatches climbing 25% year-on-year to 2.76 lakh units. The growth defied a challenging comparison period, buoyed by peak festive season demand and low inventory levels across dealerships.

Maruti Suzuki's October sales surge reflected sustained consumer appetite for personal vehicles across both mass-market and premium segments. Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches rose more than 20% to 2.12 lakh units, while total domestic dispatches—including Super Carry commercial vehicles and sales to other original equipment manufacturers—increased around 19% to 2.26 lakh units, according to regulatory filings.
Within the passenger car category, sales expanded 18.4% year-on-year to 1 lakh units, driven by strong demand for popular models including Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Swift and WagonR. Utility vehicles also contributed significantly to the growth trajectory, with models such as Brezza, Fronx and Grand Vitara gaining traction among buyers.
The record performance came as the industry entered its peak selling season, coinciding with major festivals in India. Maruti Suzuki's inventory position remained lean, with dealership stock at approximately 15-16 days of supply and pending customer bookings standing at around 2 lakh units, indicating sustained demand momentum ahead.
