Maruti Suzuki sales surge 24% in September on robust domestic demand

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd posted strong September sales figures on Thursday, with total sales climbing to 236,013 units from 189,665 units in the corresponding month of the previous year. The growth reflects buoyant consumer demand across India's automotive market, with particularly sharp gains in the domestic segment offsetting modest growth in export volumes.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales nearly doubled their year-on-year growth rate, surging 36.9 per cent to 181,838 units in September compared with 132,820 units a year ago. When combined with light commercial vehicle sales, total domestic sales reached 185,252 units against 135,711 units in the prior-year period, underscoring broad-based strength across vehicle categories.

The company's popular segments posted substantial gains. Sales of mini, compact and mid-sized vehicles—including models such as Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, S-Presso, Swift and WagonR—climbed to 91,887 units from 74,090 units year-on-year. Meanwhile, export shipments rose to 44,219 units in September from 42,204 units in the same month previously, reflecting steady international demand for Indian-manufactured vehicles.

The strong September performance caps a period of robust growth for India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer by volume, signalling sustained consumer confidence and healthy market conditions in the domestic automotive sector.
