Massive flooding sweeps India's Bihar, affecting millions
Bihar state in India is grappling with severe flooding that has impacted millions of residents. Authorities have mobilised extensive relief operations including camps, community kitchens and rescue boats across the affected regions.

Severe flooding across Bihar state has displaced millions of people, prompting a major humanitarian response from regional authorities. The state government has established 13 relief camps to provide shelter and assistance to those affected by the deluge.
To support displaced residents, officials have set up more than 1,000 community kitchens to provide meals across flood-affected areas. The scale of the operation underscores the severity of the situation facing Bihar's population.
Rescue and relief efforts have been bolstered by the deployment of nearly 1,800 boats in inundated zones, enabling authorities to reach marooned communities and evacuate residents to safety. The water-based transport has become critical infrastructure as roads and normal access routes remain submerged.
Bihar, situated in eastern India along the Ganges River basin, is prone to seasonal flooding during the monsoon period. The current flooding adds to the challenges faced by one of India's more densely populated states, where infrastructure and resources are often stretched during disaster situations.
