Maybank, MHTC forge regional healthcare expansion partnership

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and Maybank have announced a strategic partnership aimed at broadening access to Malaysian healthcare services among the banking group's customer base across the ASEAN region.

The multi-year agreement will leverage Maybank's extensive regional presence and customer network to connect patients with Malaysia's healthcare providers and services. The initiative seeks to position Malaysia as a preferred healthcare destination while facilitating cross-border patient mobility within Southeast Asia.

Under the partnership framework, Maybank customers will gain streamlined access to information, referrals, and arrangements for healthcare services in Malaysia. The collaboration is designed to create a seamless interface between banking services and healthcare delivery, potentially including financing solutions and coordinated care pathways.

The partners plan to roll out the initiative progressively, with expansion into additional ASEAN markets scheduled to commence from 2027. This phased approach will allow both organisations to refine operational processes and strengthen the value proposition for participating customers before scaling the programme regionally.

The partnership underscores Malaysia's strategic focus on developing its healthcare tourism sector and attracting regional patients seeking quality medical services.
