MBA Student Arrested for Smuggling MDMA Worth ₹11 Lakh on Train

A postgraduate business student was taken into custody at Vijayawada railway station after authorities seized a significant quantity of MDMA during a routine check on October 14. According to police investigations, the accused agreed to transport the banned synthetic drug from Bengaluru to Vijayawada for a modest financial incentive.

The accused allegedly obtained the MDMA from a Nigerian national operating in Bengaluru. Law enforcement officials said the student was offered ₹50,000 to courier the consignment, indicating the involvement of a larger narcotics distribution network across southern India.

The recovered MDMA has been valued at approximately ₹11 lakh, making it a substantial seizure. The case highlights the continued misuse of railway networks by drug traffickers to move contraband across state boundaries, exploiting college-going individuals willing to undertake risky assignments for relatively small monetary gains.

Police have launched investigations to identify other members of the smuggling ring, particularly the Nigerian national and any handlers coordinating the operations. The student faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
