Real Madrid secured a crucial victory in the latest edition of El Clasico, with French forward Mbappe's two-goal performance proving decisive in the 2-1 triumph over Barcelona at the weekend.
The result marked a significant moment in the LaLiga title race, as Barcelona suffered their first loss in domestic competition this season. Prior to the match, the Blaugrana held a commanding position atop the league standings, but Real Madrid's victory has cut that advantage to just three points.
Mbappe's clinical finishing in both halves underpinned Real Madrid's attacking threat throughout the encounter. Barcelona managed to reduce the deficit with a goal in the second half, but could not find an equaliser despite their efforts to overturn the deficit.
The victory reinforces Real Madrid's credentials as serious contenders for the LaLiga title this season, while Barcelona will look to bounce back from the setback in their upcoming fixtures. The two sides remain among the league's front-runners as the campaign progresses.
