Mbappe's brace powers Real Madrid past Sevilla ahead of Barcelona clash

Real Madrid closed the gap on LaLiga leaders Barcelona to six points on Sunday with an emphatic home win over Sevilla. French forward Mbappe's double at the Santiago Bernabeu proved decisive as Madrid recorded a 4-1 triumph to maintain their title ambitions.

The victory comes as both clubs prepare for next week's highly anticipated meeting between the Spanish rivals. Barcelona currently holds a commanding position atop the standings, but Madrid's performance demonstrated their capacity to mount a serious challenge.

Mbappe's contributions were instrumental in securing the comfortable margin of victory, underlining his importance to Carlo Ancelotti's squad this season. The result extends Madrid's recent form and provides momentum heading into the crucial fixture against their fiercest competitors.

With the two clubs set to face off in a week's time, Madrid's victory offers confidence that they can compete effectively against the league leaders despite the current six-point deficit.
